Local activities

Fowl Green Farm is an excellent environment for those who like a variety of country pursuits. These can include walking, sight seeing, riding, cycling off road wheelchair driving, bird watching, fishing, painting or sketching and photography.

There are 86 acres of farmland with fields and woods and a stream running through. Come and enjoy watching animals and birds close at hand. We have created footpaths and picnic sites which are accessible to wheelchair users, so all the family can take part together.

Come looking for historical artefacts, or bring your flower books to identify some of the unusual species. See if you can create your own list of bird species, which will vary according to the season. Alternatively, this is a photographers' paradise with magnificent views, huge skies and ever changing countryside.

Equally, you may prefer to travel round the quiet country roads, avoiding the sheep and sampling the village tea shops. In the evenings, there are local pubs to visit, if you are lucky and meet the locals, you may hear some interesting tales. Castleton village hall hosts country dancing on Thursday evenings and singing for pleasure on Tuesdays throughout the winter.
