Exterior

Access into Fowl Green Farm yard is over a cattle grid and is clearly sign posted from the road. All cottages have space for a setting down point and car parking is close to all of the cottages. There are no designated car parking spaces, but there is plenty of space for accessing vehicles from the side or rear. There is both covered and open parking. Although the yard is on a gradient, footpaths lead to all cottages from the car parking area. There are no steps or ramps. There is also footpath access out of the yard, to the road or adjoining bridle path.

From the farm yard, accessible footpaths and picnic areas have been created. Power wheelchairs may be available to borrow, to take advantage of the farm land.

Interior

All cottages are suitable for a person who needs to use a wheelchair, either some of the time or all of the time and may transfer independently or with assistance. Accommodation in the four cottages has least one ground floor bedroom and adapted bath/shower room, natural slate/flagstone non-slip floors, under floor heating and fully equipped adapted kitchens. All cottages have wide doors in all rooms. There are no steps to any of the cottages. There are turning circles and unobstructed routes in each cottage.

All beds are firm and at a height of at least 450mm. Transfer space is available at both sides of the bed in the barn and cowbyre, but at one side only in the pigsties. There are higher and lower clothes hanging rails. All televisions have teletext and remote controls. Wall switches or sockets are at heights between 900 and 1200 mm. Different heights and style of seating is available.

Although hoists are not provided, all bed heights are sufficient to allow for use of a portable hoist. Bathrooms have room for a portable hoist, but access into the bath in the barn is not possible from a hoist. Showers all have thermostatic mixers, can be used either standing or sitting, and have fixed shower seats of generous size. A wheel-in shower chair and toilet riser seat is available. THE BARN: has one ground floor double bedroom. The bathroom has grab rails, vanity basin with lever taps and space under to access from a wheelchair, adapted bath with drop down side, accessible at wheelchair height, with over bath thermostatically controlled shower. The kitchen has different height work surfaces, inset bowl with lever tap and is equipped with full size cooker with oven, fridge/freezer and microwave.

THE COW BYRE: has two ground floor bedrooms, a double and a twin. The bathroom has a roll-in shower (thermostatically controlled), vanity basin with lever taps and space under to access from a wheelchair, grab rails and Clos-o-mat toilet. The well equipped kitchen has different height work surfaces, built-in oven, hob and extractor, sink with lever tap, fridge/freezer and microwave.

THE PIGSTIES: are completely accessible on the ground floor with roll-in shower room/toilet, vanity basin with lever taps and space under to access from a wheelchair. The double beds are situated on the ground floor and twin beds on the mezzanine. The kitchens are well equipped with different height work surfaces, with hob and basin set in, lever tap, combination microwave/grill/oven and fridge.

In addition, there is an accessible communal lounge/games room with open log fire.
